–As Stakeholders Meet For Palliative Distribution
The leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in Emohua LGA, Eze Paul Wokhe Wonodi has described unfortunate reports of an organised social media attack on the chairman of the local government area, Hon Chidi Lloyd by some misguided youths of the area.
Speaking at a stakeholders meeting held at the Emohua local government council headquarters on Friday to work out modalities for the distribution of food palliatives, Eze Prince Paul Wonodi expressed displeasure over the misleading information maliciously circulated on social media platforms against the council chairman.
He said the achievements of Dr Chidi Lloyd within two years in office deserve commendation from every well-meaning son and daughter of Emohua local government area.
Eze Paul Wonodi who described the audacity of the miscreants attempting to sow seeds of discord among the people of Emohua local government area as an abuse of the freedom of information and expression law, enjoined stakeholders at the meeting to remember the council chairman in their prayers, for God’s continuous protection and provision to achieve his purpose for the local government area.
The erstwhile chairman of Emohua local government area said, although there has been a great improvement in the allocation of local governments under the present dispensation, but maintained that it takes a local government chairman who is sincerely committed to the development of the area to effect a change of narrative about the LGA within two years, stressing that many others would have diverted the resources meant for the development of the area for their personal use.
He reiterated the support and cooperation of the leadership of Emohua local government area to the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd, emphasizing that the council chairman had done well for the people in a very short time, hence the people will continue to support his administration.
The elder statesman further commended Dr. Lloyd for his transparency in the allocation of the food palliatives received from the state government as part of the federal government’s effort to cushion the effect of the economic downturn occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal policy.
He urged relevant stakeholders across the communities to emulate the council chairman’s transparency policy by ensuring that the distribution of the food palliative is not politicized, as directed by the council chairman.
Dr Chidi Lloyd had directed that the 700 bags of rice received from the federal government through the government of Rivers State be evenly distributed across the 14 wards in the LGA, leaving each ward with 50 bags each. He further directed that the 50 bags for each ward be distributed among the communities that make up the ward, and the number of bags due each community is subsequently delivered to the traditional ruler of the respective communities, with the cost of their transportation on the local government.
