— As Gov Wike’s Chief Of Staff Eulogises Emolga Boss On Peace And Development
The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd said his administration will be investing in young talented footballers discovered at the just concluded Emohua local government football tournament tagged: “Wike Peace Cup 2021”.
The chairman said the peace, unity and development football tournament which was conceived by his administration hasn’t only been able to ignite peace and unity amongst the youths of Emohua local government area, but has also availed the local government the opportunity to identify young football talents who would be groomed as exports to the international football market.
Dr. Chidi Lloyd stated this at the final match /closing ceremony of the maiden edition of Emohua local government peace, unity and development football tournament tagged: Wike Peace Cup held at Ojims college, Rumuji town in Emohua local government area on Saturday.
Expressing satisfaction with the number of young talented footballers from the local government area who were discovered during the tournament, the council chairman directed his special assistant on sports to work out the modalities for the formation of a local government owned football team, with the best of the bests from the just concluded tournament.
He said the local government will be building a footfall team that will produce skillful footballers who can compete favourably for admission into the Rivers State government owned Rivers United football club and other professional football teams within and outside Rivers State.
The council Boss urged youths of Emohua local government area to be ambassadors of peace and progress in their respective communities, stressing that no meaningful development can take place in any atmosphere devoid of peace and security.
He said his administration was able to embark on critical infrastructural projects across the local government area because of the existence of peace and security in the area, emphasizing on the importance of peaceful coexistence amongst the youths in the development of the local government area.
Speaking further, Dr Lloyd urged the youths of the area to join hands with the government to checkmate the increasing rate of illegal oil bunkering activities in the local government area, recounting the negative effect of oil bunkering activities on the people of the area.
The chief of staff Rivers State government house, Chief Engr Chukwuemeka Woke who was the special guest at the closing ceremony, congratulated Dr Chidi Lloyd on his sterling performance in less than one year of his administration and commended the council chairman for initiating the football tournament which promotes peace and love amongst the youths of Emohua LGA, stressing that the football tournament wouldn’t have been possible without the existence of peace and security in the area.
He reassured the council chairman of the support of the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Emohua LGA to his administration, stressing that the party’s leadership didn’t make any mistake in their choice of Dr Chidi Lloyd to oversee the LGA, as the chairman’s performance in less than one year in office speaks volume of his competence and preparedness to reposition the local government area.
Hon Emeka Woke thanked the governor of Rivers State, H.E Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for his huge investment in security through consistent provision of logistics support to the security agencies and the new Rivers State security architecture which has brought about lasting peace and security across the state.
The member representing Emohua constituency in the state assembly, Hon Sam Ogeh in his brief remark, stated that the football tournament indicates that peace and security has fully returned to Emohua LGA, recounting the days when youths couldn’t assemble together in the local government area without the presence of security personnel.
Barr. Sam Ogeh commended the council chairman for initiating the tournament which has showcased young talented footballers from the local government area, some.of whom may grow to become international football stars in the nearest future.
The final match of the tournament which was between Emohua (ward 4) and Ibaa (ward 6) ended 2-0 in favour of the Ibaa team who emerged the winner, clinching the trophy and the gold medals in the tournament,
Other winners are: Emohua Ward 4 — 2nd position (Silver medal), Ogbakiri ward 1–3rd position (bronze medal), Chimamkpa Owhor — Best Player, Ugo Njoku — Best Goalkeeper and Soye Okoro — Highest Goal Scorer.
The chief host and chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd was also decorated with a gold medal in recognition of his investment in sports development, as well as his sterling performance in the local government area.
The chairman of Emohua PDP caucus committee, Eze Prince Paul Wonodi , The vice chairman of the LGA, Hon Mrs Edna Nyeche, Leader of the legislative council, Hon Mrs Love Nyenke and members of the legislative council, Secretary to the council, Chief Vincent Chukwu , the state youth leader of PDP, Hon Ikpechi Oriji and the proprietor of Ojims College, Revd.Dr Simeon Dimkpa Ojims, were amongst other dignitaries from within and outside Emohua local government area who witnessed the closing ceremony amidst mammoth crowd.
