– Emohua Local Government Area Stand For CONTINUITY AND CONSOLIDATION.
The government, leaders, and critical stakeholders of Emohua Local Government Area have watched with great concern emerging commentaries and reactions on different media platforms, credited to some individuals, groups, and organizations across Rivers State, including those from Emohua Local Government Area, in respect of the seeming disagreement between the immediate past Governor of our dear state and Nigeria’s Minister of F.C.T, His Excellency, Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and our incumbent Governor, His Excellency, Sir. Siminalayi Fubara, which has unfortunately become a subject of public interest.
As a democratically elected government, working in synergy with leaders and critical stakeholders to offer visionary and purposeful governance to our people, we respect the rights of individuals and groups to freedom of speech and association as enshrined in our constitution but wish to clearly state that comments and reactions emanating from individuals and groups within Emohua Local Government Area should be regarded as the personal views and positions of those expressing them and not a reflection of the position of the people of Emohua Local Government Area.
Based on the preceding, we therefore clearly state the position of Emohua Local Government Area on the subject matter as follows:
1. All well-meaning sons and daughters of the local government area in which I lead completely align ourselves with the position of other well-meaning sons and daughters of our beloved Rivers State and Mr. President, who believe that the seeming disagreement is a misunderstanding between our two leaders and hence do not call for the interference of political actors who may be seeking personal vendetta within and outside Emohua local government area.
2. It is our hope and prayer that God will touch our two leaders to make up and not break up in the interest of our dear state.
3. We are for peace and not to take sides to support any particular leader against another.
4. That the people of Emohua Local Government Area voted overwhelmingly for our incumbent governor, H.E. Sir Siminalayi Fubara, and came third amongst the LGAs in the state with a total of 20,600 votes under the direction of our leader, H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, who led the campaigns and the mobilization for the election, and nothing has changed.
5. Some of those issuing statements and regrouping today to fuel the crisis in the state are people who worked against the election of our dear governor; some are people who also contested against the governor in other political parties but lost even in their polling units because of the love and support our party and leader enjoyed across the state.
6. We will not allow anyone within or outside our political family to destroy what we have all worked for, as we continue to pray for God’s intervention and for lasting peace and reconciliation between our two leaders, in the interest of our God-given Rivers State.
Emohua local government stands for peace and reconciliation.
Signed.
Chief Hon Chidi Lloyd, JP, B.L., LL.M., Ph.D., DSSRS, MCIArb (UK).
Chairman, Emohua Local Government Area, Rivers State
