– As EDAA Set To Unveil Joint Security Outfit
The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd has said that the security of lives and properties should not be left for security agencies alone, stressing that every citizen must rise up to the occasion in support of the security agencies in their localities.
Dr Chidi Lloyd stated these during a live appearance on Hard-Fact; a current affairs program with Adedayo Elusakin on Nigeria Info 92.3 FM PortHarcourt on Wednesday.

He maintained that the major resolution of the EDAA collaboration was to improve security along the Emohua–Kalabari road, using a joint local security outfit to provide support for the operations of government security agencies along the road.
The Emolga council Boss said himself and his counterparts from the three Kalabari LGAs took it upon themselves to rise to the occasion following the recent abduction of an expatriate worker attached to Lubriks construction company; the contractor handling the construction of Trans-Kalabari road being executed by Rivers State government, in compliance with the first charge given to all local government chairmen by the governor of Rivers State during the inauguration of the council chairmen, prioritizing the safety of lives and properties, stressing that the EDAA collaboration is intended to consolidate on the achievements of the governor of Rivers State, HE Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on security.

The council chairman commended the management of Lubriks construction company for the remedial work done on some sections of the Emohua–Kalabari road that were in very terrible situations, which formally made it much more easier for criminals to intercept their victims along the road.
He stated that the synergy between the council chairmen and Lubriks construction company which gave birth to the remedial work done on the Emohua–Kalabari road by the company was a well thought out strategy by the EDAA collaboration aimed at improving the condition of the road, not only for residents of the area but also for the vigilante and security agencies to freely patrol on the road and respond swiftly to emergency situations in their area of coverage.
On the establishment of Emohua local government vigilante services, Dr Lloyd disclosed that having already set up the administrative structure of the local government vigilante service, the vigilante will be taking off as soon as the secretariat building which will serve as its operational office is completed and put to use.
He said the new local government vigilante services will have the good heads from the disbanded OSPAC admitted to continue their good works in the area under the direct regulation of the local government council as provided in the law establishing the vigilante service.
