EMOLGA PROJECT UPDATE

Before the emergence of Dr Chidi Lloyd as chairman of Emohua LGA in 2021, his predecessor had already disbanded the unregulated community-based vigilante groups (OSPAC) across the LGA, following reports of their interference in marital, land and chieftaincy disputes, as well as their involvement in illegal oil bunkering activities in the area.
On assumption of office, Dr Chidi Lloyd presented an executive bill for establishing Emohua Local Government vigilante services (EMOVIS), which was approved by the local government legislative assembly.
Nominations for the membership of the LGA vigilante services were done by communities, with particular consideration for members of the disbanded community-based vigilante groups who contributed to the restoration of peace and security in their respective communities, as well as the formerly troubled Emohua LGA axis of the East-West road. The police and the DSS profiled the nominees, and those who scaled through the screening were admitted into the EMOVIS.
Apart from approving monthly stipends to encourage members of the LGA vigilante services, the administration of Dr Chidi Lloyd also constructed a befitting administrative secretariat building for the EMOVIS.
The secretariat is situated at the former Emohua skill acquisition centre which was already a shadow of itself long before the emergence of Dr. Chidi Lloyd.
