Set To Admit Retired Soldiers Into EMOVIS

Wives of soldiers who paid the ultimate price for the unity of Nigeria, who are indigenes of Emohua Local Government Area, have been given employment by the Local Government Council.

The chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Sir Dr. Chidi Lloyd, disclosed this at the wreath-laying ceremony in commemoration of the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration held at the local government headquarters on Monday.

He said the employment was part of his administration’s support for the wives of the fallen heroes, in recognition of the sacrifices of their departed husbands for the unity of Nigeria.

The council chairman, who also announced the donation of one million naira to members of the Nigerian legion in Emohua Local Government Area as part of his administration’s support for the living heroes, disclosed plans to admit legionnaires who are still very fit into the Emohua Local Government Area Vigilante Services (EMOVIS) to bring in their wealth of experience in crime fighting into the local government security architecture.

Dr. Lloyd said his administration had recently provided new uniforms for the legionnaires in the area, with prompt payment of counterpart funding to the state for their welfare.

While noting the peace and security witnessed across Emohua local government area during the yuletide, Dr. Lloyd enjoined residents of the area to support the security agencies and the local vigilante with reliable information to aid their operations and improve the security of lives and properties in the area.

The wreath-laying ceremony, which had in attendance traditional rulers and heads of security agencies in Emohua local government area, was also attended by political leaders and stakeholders across the local government area.

Notable political leaders in attendance include the leader of the PDP Caucus in Emohua LGA, former caretaker committee chairman Eze Paul Wokhe Wonodi, and the deputy chairman of the PDP in the LGA, Dr. Jim Morison.
