Directs Local Govt. Works Department To Commence Repair Work At The NYSC Lodge In Emohua
Contractors handling Emohua local government projects have been charged to intensify effort to ensure that all projects are delivered within the stipulated time and in line with their specifications.
The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd gave the charge during an inspection visit to some of the projects being executed by his administration across the local government area on Thursday.
Dr Lloyd said his administration will not tolerate excuses from any contractor, emphasizing that any contractor who accepts money from the local government during rainy season should also be able to work under rain to deliver the project in line with the specifications.
The council chairman however expressed satisfaction with the progress of work at Ukeli road in Rundele and Eveku community road, and urged the project managers to maintain the pace of work at the project sites, to have them delivered on time.
At Ukeli road where market women were seen displaying goods along the project site, the council chairman urged the management of Ahia-chukwu; a popular market in Rundele to coordinate the traders in the market in such a manner that their activities will not disrupt construction work on the road.
Meanwhile, Dr Chidi Lloyd has instructed the director of works in the local government council to immediately mobilize the necessary machineries to commence repair work at the National Youth Service Corps Lodge in the local government headquarters.
The council chairman gave the directive when he embarked on an unscheduled visit to the local government corpers lodge on Thursday.
Dr Lloyd disclosed that his administration will be constructing a new NYSC lodge at a new location within the local government headquarters but needed to commence repair work at the old lodge, to improve the condition of the lodge for the corpers serving in the area while the council work out modalities for the construction of the new lodge.
The council chairman also stopped over at the divisional police headquaters and the court complex in Rumuji town, to inspect the fencing and gatehouse project being executed by his administration.
