— Issues One Hour Ultimatum To Those Operating The Illegal Goat Market In Elele-Alimini To Vacate The Unapproved Market
In continuation of the ongoing fight against illegal oil bunkering activities which has been identified as the main cause of soot pandemic in Rivers State, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd on Friday stormed Rumuekpe community to dislodge operators of illegal artisanal petroleum refineries in the area.
The council chairman accompanied by a combined team of security personnel effected the arrest of some of the operators of the sites in the community while others took to their heels on sighting the council Boss and his team.
The local government taskforce on illegal oil bunkering also impounded some truck tanks used as barricade to prevent the council chairman and his team from gaining access into the forest to locate one of the largest sites in the area.
The Emolga council Boss also directed the local government taskforce to dismantle and evacuate the materials used to construct the illegal artisanal petroleum refineries from the site.
Meanwhile, Dr Chidi Lloyd has issued one hour ultimatum to traders at an illegal goat market along Elele-Alimini axis of the East-West road, to vacate the unapproved market.
He also directed the local government committee on illegal structures to ensure that the illegal goat market and other emerging shanties within local government area were demolished.
According to the council chairman; the demolition of the illegal goat market and other shanties in the local government area is in line with Rivers State government’s effort to checkmate the activities of criminal elements who use these shanties as their hideout.
In a related development, the council chairman has maintained that indiscriminate parking of truck tanks and trailers along the East-West road remains prohibited in Emohua local government area.
Dr. Lloyd stated this when he intercepted some indiscriminately parked truck tanks and trailers along the Elele-Alimini axis of the East-West road immediately after the raid on illegal oil bunkers at Rumuekpe community.
He further directed the local government taskforce to impound the truck tanks and trailers while the police effected the arrest of the divers attached to the trucks.
