The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr Chidi Lloyd on Sunday joined other patriotic Rivers Sons and Daughters to cheer the Rivers United Football Club to victory as they battled Young Africans Sports Club of Tanzania, on a 1-0 aggregate in a CAF Champions League Preliminary Game at home in Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in PortHarcourt.
Rivers United who had earlier defeated Young Africans 1-0 away in Kampala also defeated their guest 1-0 in their return leg at home in PortHarcourt.
With the home and away win over the young Africans Sports Club of Tanzania in the preliminary games, the Rivers United Football Club has earn a place in the first round of the CAF Champion’s League.
Dr Chidi Lloyd described the home and away victory of Rivers United Football Club as well deserved, stating that the Rivers boys were physically and mentally prepared for their games.
The council chairman thanked the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for taking the welfare of the football club very seriously, which is one of the reasons why the club will continue to come out victorious in their games.
Dr Lloyd congratulated the players and management of Rivers United Football Club, as well as the entire Rivers people on the victory of the state owned football club.
The council chairman was accompanied by his deputy, Hon Mrs Edna Nyeche.
