The African Students Union Parliament (ASUP) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, to familiarize and identify with the council chairman and congratulate him on his sterling performance within one year of his administration.
The African Students Union Parliament’s director of programmes, Comr Ozim Temple, said the visit became necessary following the council chairman’s track record of performance and effective leadership.
The student parliament during the visit presented an award of excellence to Dr. Chidi Lloyd as an Icon of Nation Building in Nigeria, in recognition of his contribution to nation building, not only as the chairman of Emohua LGA but also in recognition of his sterling performance and effective representation during his tenure in the state assembly where he represented Emohua constituency for three consecutive terms, rising to the rank of the majority leader of the house.
According to Comr. Ozim Temple; “Dr. Chidi Lloyd has also mentored and inspired a lot of youths, students and young lawyers across Nigeria especially at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka were he was a respected lecturer before his election as the chairman of Emohua LGA in Rivers State.
“We Congratulate him on his tremendous achievements within one year of his administration, and the unprecedented infrastructural revolution witnessed across Emohua LGA under his watch.
“We saw him leading the fight against illegal oil bunkering and drug abuse in the LGA, we’ve seen him introduce a new security architecture in the local government area, we’ve seen him invest in the health sector through the construction of the primary healthcare center and the provision of a magistrate court complex for quick dispensation of justice, amongst other people oriented projects.
“We think he deserves a pan African leadership award.
“The most outstanding was the construction of kilometers of road in the local government area.
We are proud to identify with him and we pray that he continues in this path.”
Dr. Chidi Lloyd thanked the leadership and members of the African Students Union Parliament for finding him worthy of the recognition and encouraged them to continue to promote Pan-Africanism amongst African youths and students , with a view to building a better and more united African continent.
