Meanwhile, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd has warned actors in Rumuewhor Community, in Odegu to desist from acts capable of undermining government directives.
He said the attempt by some actors in Rumuewhor Community to constitute a Community Development Committee (CDC) either by election or appointment without the approval of the local government authority was a direct violation of a subsisting statewide ban on the election and appointment of Community Development Committee by the Rivers State government.
Dr. Lloyd declared that Emohua local government under his watch will not hesitate to bring the full weight of relevant laws upon anyone or group found violating the directive of the government in Rumuewhor Community, no matter how highly placed in the society.
The council chairman further maintained that the State order empowers only the local government to regulate the activities of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Youth Bodies, and other organs of the community alike until the ban is lifted by the state government.
Dr. Lloyd also advised community leaders across Emohua local government area to take note of the subsisting statewide ban on CDC and Youth elections to avoid unnecessary conflict with the government.
