On Friday, the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, joined other critical stakeholders to witness the flag off of the Nigerian army’s exercise still waters III 2023 at the 6th division step-up headquarters in Ahoada-East local government area.
Nigeria’s chief of army staff, Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja who performed the flag-off ceremony said, the exercise is a special operation of the Nigerian army in the South-South and South-West zones of Nigeria.
According to the army chief, the operation will target the menace of cultism, armed robbery and kidnapping. It will equally seek to address the challenges of pipeline vandalism, illegal oil bunkering activities and other forms of economic sabotage in the area.
Dr. Lloyd who has been at the forefront of the fight against crime and criminality, including illegal oil bunkering activities, assured the military of his administration’s support for the success of the exercise, describing it as a timely and well-thought-out initiative of the Nigerian army.
The flag-off ceremony also had in attendance among other critical stakeholders, the chairmen of Ahoada-East and Ahoada-West LGAs, Barr Ben Eke and Evang. Hope Ikiriko respectively.
