— Chidi Lloyd Sues For Lasting Peace In Obelle Community To Attract Government Presence
The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Emohua local government area have been reassured of a convincing victory in the forthcoming general election across the polling units in Obelle community (ward 5) Emohua LGA.
The reassurance was given when the Emohua LGA campaign council of the PDP took its ward-to-ward sensitization and mobilization of voters to the Obelle community (ward 5) on Thursday, to galvanize support for Rivers PDP candidates in the 2023 general election.
In their separate solidarity speeches, Chief Dabrison Egeonu, Barr. Justice Amadi and other leaders of the PDP in the Obelle community while noting that the PDP had never lost any election in the community since 1999, reassured that the 2023 election won’t be an exception but a better opportunity to double their efforts.
Chief Dabrison who commended the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd for his untiring willingness to end the crisis in the Obelle community, attributed the relative peace enjoyed in the community to the council chairman’s commitment to the security of lives and properties in the community.
In his brief remark, the Supervisory Councillor for works in Emohua local government council, Hon Solomon Ikpo said the people are prepared not only to win the election but to win convincingly, assuring that the Obelle community is already intact for Sir Siminalayi Fubara and other Rivers PDP candidates in the general election.
The chairman of Emohua LGA and PDP campaign coordinator in the LGA, Dr Chidi Lloyd in his address appealed to the youths of the Obelle community to sheath their sword and embrace peace in order to attract government presence to the area, describing insecurity as the number one enemy of development and progress in the society.
The council chairman said his administration had earlier earmarked intervention projects in the Obelle community but couldn’t mobilize to the site following the resurgence of full-blown insecurity in the community occasioned by cult-related territorial integrity clashes and illegal oil bunkering activities in the community.
Dr Lloyd while reiterating his willingness and commitment to kickstarting the intervention projects at State School 1 and 2 in Obelle (ward 5) earlier earmarked for execution in continuation of his administration’s infrastructure revolution in Emohua LGA, maintained that no government can execute any infrastructure project in an atmosphere devoid of peace and security.
The construction of the Obelle section of the Rumuji – Ibaa – Obelle – Isiokpo road by the PDP-led Rivers State government under Governor Nyesom Wike, according to Dr Chidi Lloyd became a reality because there was peace and security in the community at the time of the project implementation.
The Emolga council Boss who expressed gratitude to the women of the Obelle community for turning out en masse to accord the PDP campaign council a rousing welcome into the community urged electorates to use their permanent voters’ cards to attract more projects to the area by securing all polling units in the community for the Rivers PDP candidates in the Governorship, national and state assembly elections.
The chairman of PDP in Emohua LGA, Hon Uche Minikwu; Leader of the caucus, Eze Paul Wonodi and member representing Emohua constituency in the state assembly, Hon Sam Ogeh in their separate remarks urged the people of Obelle (Ward 5) to vote massively for Rivers PDP candidates in the general election, in appreciation to the party for the road project executed in the community by the Nyesom Wike led Rivers State government, as well as to attract more projects to the community.
Paul Wonodi who noted that the Obelle community was given the opportunity to produce the vice chairman of Emohua LGA in immediate past administration the LGA, maintained that the only way to ask for more government recognition in the area is to appreciate the party with solidarity votes in the forthcoming general election.
The ward campaign which also featured the formal reception of a former APC women group in Obelle led by Ms Evelyn Omeka, had in attendance prominent leaders of the PDP across Emohua LGA, including the State Assembly candidate for Emohua constituency seat, Hon Justina Emeji and the serving commissioner in the Rivers State Ministry of Environment, Barr Emenike Geoffrey-Eke, amongst others.
Earlier the Emohua LGA PDP campaign train paid homage to the Obelle community council and elders at the community hall to seek the blessings of the community and formally notify them of the party’s activity in the community.
