The campaign council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Emohua local government area has released the timetable for the party’s electioneering campaigns across the fourteen (14) political wards in the local government area in preparation for the 2023 general election.
Chairman of Emohua LGA, Dr Chidi Lloyd who is also the Director General (DG) of the PDP campaign council in the LGA announced the timetable at an expanded stakeholders meeting of the party held at the local government council secretariat in Emohua on Monday.
According to the Campaign DG, the campaign council is expected to visit communities across the 14 political wards in Emohua LGA to mobilize and sensitize electorates to elect the candidates of the PDP in Rivers State ahead of the 2023 general election.
The council chairman said the ward-to-ward campaign is scheduled to kick off from ward 10 (Omudioga, Akpabu and Itu) on Tuesday, 31st January 2023, to be followed by Ward 9 (Elele-Alimini) on Wednesday, 1st February 2023.
Dr Lloyd who enjoined party stakeholders across the LGA to stay back in their respective wards to mobilize supporters and welcome the campaign council to their various communities, also called for inclusiveness and cooperation amongst party stakeholders, with a view to strengthening the party for a collective victory in the 2023 general election.
The campaign council is expected to visit Ward 12 (Ubimini) on Thursday 2nd February and Ward 11( Egbeda) on Friday 3rd February before retiring for a weekend break.
According to the timetable, the 2nd week of the ward-to-ward campaign is scheduled to commence with a visit to Rumuekpe (Ward on Monday 6th February, to be followed by Obelle ( Ward 5) on Thursday 9th February and Ward 6 ( Ibaa) on Friday 10th February.
After the Rivers PDP zonal rally scheduled to hold simultaneously across the three senatorial districts in Rivers State on Saturday 11th February, activities in Emohua local government area is expected to resume on Monday 13th February, as the LGA campaign train moves to Ward 14 ( Odegu 2) and Ward 13 ( Odegu 1) on Wednesday 15th.
The 3rd week of the ward-to-ward campaign would be wrapped up with visits to Ward 3 (Emohua 1) on Thursday 16th February and Ward 4 (Emohua 2) on Friday 17th February.
Activities for the last week (Week 4) are scheduled to begin in Rundele and end in Ogbakiri, with visits to Ward 7 (Rundele) on Tuesday 21st February and Ward 2 (Ogbakiri 2) the following day Wednesday 22nd February, and concluded with a Grand Finale in Ward 1 ( Ogbakiri 1) on Thursday 23rd February.
The stakeholders meeting which also reviewed the performance of the PDP in Emohua LGA in previous elections, as part of preparations for the forthcoming general election had in attendance the Chief of Staff Rivers State Government House, Chief Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke; Chairman of PDP in Emohua LGA, Hon Uche Minikwu and Chairman of PDP caucus in the LGA, Eze Paul Wonodi.
Prominent among other leaders of the party who attended the meeting was the vice chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon Mrs Edna Nyeche; Erstwhile chairmen of Emohua LGA; Barr Emma Wonodi, Hon John Wokoma, Engr. Nnamdi Abah and Chief Azundah Nkomadu; Former commissioners, Hon Charles Beke (Commerce and Industry) and Hon Arthur Uchendu (Assembly Service Commission), as well as the State Ex-Officio of the PDP from Emohua LGA, Ms Augusta Agwor.
