— Restates The People’s Resolve To Reciprocate The Governor’s Kindness In 2023
— As Gov Wike Commissions The Longest Road Project In Emohua LGA
The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has described Rivers State Governor, H.E. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, as the messiah of the local government area.
He said the governor has shown love and kindness to the people of Emohua LGA more than any other administration in Rivers State has done.
Dr. Lloyd stated this at the commissioning of the Rumuodogo 1 and 2 link roads constructed by the Rivers State government under the administration of Gov. Nyesom Wike, held in Rumuodogo, Odegu, on Thursday.
He said the people of Rumuodogo, a boundary community between Odegu in Emohua LGA and Harry’s Town in Degema LGA, had over the years been cut off from other communities in Emohua LGA due to a lack of access roads, but have been reconnected to other communities in Odegu and Emohua LGA at large following the construction of the Rumuodogo 1 and 2 link roads by the administration of Gov. Nyesom Wike.
“This is a community that was cut off from the rest of Emohua LGA because of a lack of access roads, but it was easier for them to go to school in Degema LGA through Harry’s Town, which is just across the community river. Today Gov. Wike has made that a thing of the past, and that’s why we say that he is a messiah to the people of Emohua LGA.
Dr. Lloyd said he is very elated that Gov. Wike’s infrastructural revolution in Emohua LGA was happening during his own time as the chairman of the LGA, stressing that he lacked words to thank the governor for his love and support to the people of Emohua local government area under his watch.
He noted the importance of the road to the socioeconomic development of Rumuodogo communities and Emohua LGA at large, emphasizing that the people of the area are predominantly farmers and traders who, before the construction of the road, couldn’t evacuate their products in commercial quantity.
“The economic life of the place has changed because of the construction of this road. The young men and women in the communities are now busy with their fishing and farming businesses because it is now easier for them to evacuate their products.”
“So, we are happy for what is happening today, and we thank the governor; we will continue to thank him.”
Speaking further, the Emolga council boss said the people of the Emohua local government area are grateful to Gov. Nyesom Wike and have already resolved to reciprocate the governor’s love and kindness in the 2023 general election.
He reiterated the loyalty and support of the people of the area to the leadership of Gov. Nyesom Wike, promising that the people will not hesitate to follow the governor’s directive as Nigeria prepares for another general election.
“For all that Gov. Wike has done for the people of the Emohua local government area, we cannot repay him.” I am happy that this is happening in my own time as the chairman of the Emohua local government area. I am elated.
“We may not be able to repay him, but we owe him our loyalty and our vote; we owe the PDP our vote because that is the party that has shown love to our people.”
“For a man who has done all these things for us, the only way to say thank you to him is to follow his directive, and I don’t think that’s too much to do.”
“We have resolved that whatever the governor tells us to do in 2023, that’s what we’re going to do; that’s what we’ve decided.”
“We are at home with the leadership of the LGA, and whatever directive our governor gives, the leadership in the local government will follow.”
Gov. Nyesom Wike, who performed the commissioning of the road project, urged the people of the area to support candidates whose party has impacted the lives of the people through project distribution.
He said any political party going to campaign in any community should be able to tell the people what it had done in the area.
The governor noted that the construction of Rumuodogo 1 and 2 link roads was an appeal made by the chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, and Chief Azundah Nkomadu when they led other members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) back to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
According to the governor, “Dr. Chidi Lloyd and Azundah Nkomadu never asked for money; they only asked that we do this road, and we are here today commissioning the road.”
“Tomorrow, when those other parties come to campaign here, ask them why they didn’t construct this road when they were in power in Rivers State, and ask them what they have done for you to deserve your vote.”
Apart from being the first ever asphalted road in Rumuodogo 1 and 2 since the communities were founded, the Rumuodogo 1 and 2 link roads conceived and completed by the administration of Gov. Nyesom Wike are also the most extended road project executed in Emohua local government area by the Rivers State government.
Gov. Wike said he was pleased and fulfilled to have been used by God to answer the prayers of the people of Rumuodogo.
The highlight of the project commissioning ceremony was the traditional recognition of Gov. Nyesom Wike as “The One of Rumuodogo Community” (The Light of Rumuodogo) by the paramount ruler of the community, Ohna Michael Uchegbulem, and council, a chieftaincy title in appreciation of Gov. Wike’s gesture to the community.
