Dr Chidi Lloyd has been commended for his effective leadership in Emohua local government council and the dividends of good governance witnessed across the local government area under his administration, which has gradually changed the narrative about the area.
Erstwhile chairman of Emohua LGA and leader of the PDP caucus in the area, Eze Paul Wokhe Wonodi made the commendation at a stakeholders meeting organised by Emohua local government council to address the issue of displacement of communities in Emohua LGA in the enumeration area demarcation (EAD) recently conducted by the National Population Commission NPC, ahead of the 2023 census exercise.
He lauded the council chairman for the proactive steps taken by his administration to ensure that the issues surrounding the misplacement and omission of communities in the LGA were addressed by the National Population Commission, to have communities in the area properly placed in the Nation’s database.
Paul Wonodi restated that the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Emohua LGA was very impressed with the effective leadership and outstanding performance of Dr Chidi Lloyd since he assumed office as the chairman of the local government area, stressing that the choice of the council chairman was not made in error.
He enjoined stakeholders and community leaders to support the council chairman’s effort to ensure that the issues were completely addressed before the commencement of the 2023 census.
Addressing stakeholders and community leaders at the meeting, the chairman of Emohua LGA, Dr Chidi Lloyd said the meeting was organized to ensure that the National Population Commission effects the necessary changes to have communities in the LGA properly enumerated before the national census headcount.
He enjoined leaders of communities misplaced and omitted in the enumeration area demarcation exercise to take advantage of the window of opportunity to make the necessary submissions to the National Population Commission.
Dr Lloyd who enjoined computer literates from Emohua LGA who are willing to serve as ad-hoc staff in the 2023 census headcount to transmit their application to the National Population Commission, promised to set up a help desk in the office of the council chairman to provide the necessary assistance to interested applicants across Emohua LGA.
He added that a census committee would be constituted by the local government, with nominations from communities across the LGA, to provide the necessary support to officials of the National Population Commission during the 2023 census exercise, with a view to ensuring a successful exercise in the area.
Speaking further, the Emolga council Boss said his administration will be rewarding the most hospitable community in the LGA in the 2023 census and enjoined community leaders to be receptive to the NPC enumerators during the exercise.
The paramount ruler of the Ibaa community, Eze Jonah Wobodo in his brief remark on behalf of traditional rulers across Emohua LGA commended Dr Chidi Lloyd for providing the platform for the people of the area to meet with officials of the National Population Commission to address issues arising from the recently conducted enumeration area demarcation exercise, to ensure that communities in the area are properly enumerated ahead of the census exercise while promising to work out modalities to ensure that enumerators deployed to their respective communities are well received and accommodated.
The stakeholders meeting which had in attendance, Government recognized traditional rulers, the council of chiefs, community development committees, women and youth leaders across Emohua LGA, was also observed by representatives of the National Orientation Agency, The State Security Services, The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps and political leaders, as well as officers of Emohua local government council.
The highlight of the meeting was a keynote address by the representative of the National Population Commission (NPC) in Emohua LGA, Mr Festus Amaru, who took time to educate the participants on the importance of the 2023 National Census to the political development of the area.
Mr Amaru urged computer literates from Emohua LGA to apply to serve as ad-hoc staff of the National Population Commission ahead of the 2023 census, stressing that ad-hoc enumerators are usually deployed to their home LGAs to ease the enumeration process.
