As Dr Chidi Lloyd Expresses Joy Over The Release Of The Abducted LCC Expatriate
Emohua Local Government Chairman, Dr Chidi Lloyd has described the news of the release of the expatriate worker attached to Lubriks Construction Company (LCC); the contractor handling the Trans-Kalabari road project who was recently abducted by gunmen along Emohua–Kalabari Road as heartwarming.
The council chairman said himself and his counterparts from the three Kalabari Local Government Areas (Degema, Akuku-Toru and Asari-Toru) received the news about the release of the abducted expatriate with so much joy and happiness, noting that the abduction of the expatriate was already causing distraction to the company handling the construction of the Trans-Kalabari road project being executed by Rivers State Government.
Dr Lloyd made the assertion at a continued meeting of Chairmen of Emohua, Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru and Degema Local Government Areas hosted by the Chairman of Degema Local Government Area, Hon Michael John Williams at Degema council secretariat on Monday.
He said the four Local Government Chairmen will be partnering with Lubriks Construction Company and other relevant stakeholders to improve security along the Emohua–Kalabari road, to forstall the recurrence of the menace on the road.
Dr Chidi Lloyd commended the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for bringing the much anticipated Trans-Kalabari road project to reality and urged the people of the area to support the state government by ensuring the safety of the staff and properties of the company handling the project.
Addressing journalists after the meeting of the four Local Government chairmen which held behind closed doors, the Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon Rowland Sekibo said the council chairmen will be meeting with the management of Lubriks Construction Company to work out modalities for the improvement of security along the Emohua–Kalabari Road, in order to ensure the safety of lives and properties not just on Emohua–Kalabari Road alone but to also ensure the safety of the staff and properties of the contractor handling the Trans-Kalabari road project and other government projects in the area.
Rowland Sekibo said the council chairmen will make public their resolutions at the end of their consultations with relevant stakeholders in the area, with a view to addressing the security challenges faced along the Emohua–Kalabari road, stressing that the meeting will be adopting a holistic approach to other issues affecting the four Local Government Areas.
The Akuku-Toru Council Chairman said the collaboration between the four Council Chairmen is already yielding positive result with the release of the Lubriks expatriate who was recently kidnapped by gun men along the Emohua–Kalabari road.
The council chairmen later made a brief stopover at the project site of Trans-Kalabari road to see the progress of work and assure the contractor of their collective support to ensure the success of the project.
The next meeting of the four Local Government Chairmen will be hosted by the chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area, Hon Onengiyeofori George.
