Emohua LGA To Witness Another Round Of Project Harvest In February, As Dr. Lloyd Inaugurates Project Commissioning Committee
The chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Sir Dr. Chidi Julius Lloyd, has expressed gratitude to God for the change of narrative in the area under his watch.
Dr. Lloyd stated this at the 2024 Emohua Local Government Thanksgiving and Re-dedication Service held at the council headquarters on Wednesday.
Attributing the unprecedented infrastructure revolution witnessed across Emohua LGA under his watch to the prevalent peace and security in the area, Dr. Lloyd commended the security agencies and the local vigilante for their commitment to providing the enabling environment for the implementation of people-oriented projects across the area, stressing that no meaningful development can take place in an environment devoid of peace and security.
“I want to thank our leaders, Eze Paul Wonodi, the former chief of staff, Emeka Woke, His Royal Majesty, Ohna Sergeant Awuse, and all the leaders of the LGA for giving me a free hand to run the local government, and the result of the free hand is what you see all over the local government area today.
“We thank God that we were able to make a difference with the support given to us. We’re happy that it is possible to make a difference in our time.”
“This wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment of my team, who work day and night to ensure that we produce results.”
Dr. Lloyd, who used the Thanksgiving service to invite stakeholders and the general public to another round of project commissioning in the area billed to commence on February 5th, listed the doctor’s residence/offices and the cold chain facility, two separate extensions of the Local Government Primary Healthcare Centre, as part of the projects earmarked for commissioning.
The state-of-the-art Emohua Divisional Police Headquarters building, the Council Warehouse, the 350-capacity ICT Studio, and the 500-seater pavilion (Mini Stadium) are also expected to be commissioned in the next phase of project harvest in the area, as disclosed by the council chairman.
Speaking further, Dr. Lloyd commended members of the local government legislative assembly for their support of the success of his administration, promising to complete the legislative assembly complex currently undergoing reconstruction and remodeling before the expiration of his tenure.
He acknowledged the unprecedented infrastructure revolution witnessed across the local government area, as he recalled the level of infrastructure decadence in the local government headquarters when he joined the council chairman to consecrate the council on the chairman’s first day in office after his inauguration in June 2021.
“I was here to consecrate and dedicate this council the day your chairman assumed office, and I can tell you that this place was a bush, but we can see the transformation today. This is what only Thanksgiving can do.
He noted that the local government area has made tremendous progress in security and infrastructure development under the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd and enjoined all well-meaning sons and daughters of the area to encourage the council chairman with their support and join hands to sustain the dividends of good governance in the area.
The Thanksgiving and Rededication Service is an interdenominational service introduced and organized yearly by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd to celebrate peace and progress, as well as to recommit the local government area to God every new year.
Other notable leaders of the LGA in attendance include the deputy chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Emohua LGA, Dr. Jim Morrison; the registrar of Rivers State University, Dr. Sydney Enyindah; and the former commissioner of Environment, Barr. Emenike Eke.
The paramount ruler of Rundele and erstwhile chairman of Emohua LGA, Eze Damian Ejiowhor, and his counterparts in Akpabu/Itu and Rumuekpe, Eze V.C. Wordu, and Eze Christian Evekwuru, respectively, were among the government-recognized traditional rulers who honored the ceremony amid the array of chiefs and elders.
The project commissioning committee (PCC) is chaired by the supervisor of works, Hon. Solomon Ikpo, with the chief press secretary of the council, Bright Jossy-Elendu, as secretary.
