On Tuesday, the chairman of Emohua LGA, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, inspected the progress of work at the ongoing remodeling and completion of the local government council secretariat building (office complex) at the council headquarters.
The secretariat building was initiated by the administration of Hon. Allen Nma and abandoned by successive administrations for over a decade before the emergence of Dr. Lloyd in 2021.
The remodeling and completion of the project are in line with the total transformation of the local government council headquarters as conceptualized by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd.
Over the years, the abandoned building, which was overgrown with bushes, served as an alternative public toilet for staff and visitors in the local government council because of the absence of a functional public convenience in the council before the inception of the present administration.
Although many had expected Dr. Chidi Lloyd to initiate a probe into the process that led to the abandonment of the project and bring to book the persons involved, the council chairman saw the need to move forward by completing the project, and as such, the probe can only continue to leave the very important project abandoned for many more years.
Apart from improving the aesthetic pleasure of the local government council headquarters, the project, upon completion, is also expected to address the issue of a lack of offices for staff of the council, most of whom receive salaries from home without any job assignment in the local government council.
The Emohua council boss was accompanied by the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the LGA, Hon. Uche Minikwu, and the principal officers of the local government council.
