Describes the Alleged Statement Against Rivers State Governor As Cheap Blackmail Sponsored By Self-Seeking Individuals
The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has described as mischievous and malicious an attempt by some self-seeking politicians in the local government area to cause disaffection between the local government and the Rivers State government under the leadership of H.E. Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS in their continued attempt to frustrate the effectiveness of the local government administration under his watch.
Dr. Lloyd said it is unfortunate that the sponsors of the coordinated campaign of calumny against him could go so petty to drag the exalted office of the Governor of Rivers State into their pursuit for personal aggrandizement, with a view to attracting attention.
In a statement on Wednesday, in reaction to a malicious publication circulated on social media platforms by some misguided youths believed to be sponsored by interests within Emohua local government area, where the council chairman was accused of making a disrespectful comment against Gov Siminalayi Fubara, the Emohua council boss challenged the perpetrators of the cheap blackmail to produce evidence to their ill-conceived accusation.
He said, “I have learned that for the past two months, I have been the subject of malicious blackmail on social media, and I have remained taciturn and calm; however, it is evident that these nitwits and the cowards who sponsor them are out to cause disaffection with their actions.
“The chairmanship of Emohua local government in the next elections won’t be determined on social media; it will be decided first by God almighty, the leaders of the state, and those of the local government area. These attacks on my person and insults will absolutely not count.
“However, for the avoidance of doubt, I deny your 142 allegations against me. I want further proof of where I made these uncanny statements against the Governor of Rivers State. Even the dumbest person cannot be that chatty, but it’s evident that your target is the office of the chairman of the local government.
On the allegation that the council chairman diverted solar street lights allegedly donated by the NDDC to his personal use, Dr. Lloyd said, “As for your 144 questions, I wish you published the name of the NDDC contractor who installed the street light on my ‘farm’.
The council chairman further advised youths in the Emohua local government area to meaningfully engage themselves and desist from being used by politicians who are pursuing personal vendettas to blackmail and harass those perceived to be impediments to the actualization of their selfish ambition.
“I will advise you, lads, to channel these ‘energies’ into something meaningful and allow your paymasters to do their fights; somewhere, the big men will still share whiskey together.
Signed.
