— Says The Council Chairman Deserves Another Term
— As Dr. Lloyd Reiterates Commitment To Sustaining Infrastructure Development In Emohua LGA
The Emohua Local Government Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed a vote of confidence on the chairman of the local government area, Hon Chidi Lloyd, in acknowledgment and appreciation of the council chairman’s laudable achievements within the two years of his administration.
The councilors said they were impressed with the unprecedented infrastructure revolution witnessed across the local government area within two years of the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd.
Speaking after a tour of projects undertaken by the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd across Emohua LGA, the leader of the assembly, Hon Love Nyenke said; “It is unfortunate that our constitution didn’t make provision for third term, we would have endorsed the chairman for third term”.
Love Nyenke and members of the 9th Emohua legislative assembly embarked on the project tour as part of their oversight function, to ascertain the progress of work at the different projects undertaken by the local government ahead of the two-year anniversary celebration of the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd billed to hold in October.
According to the leader of the Emohua legislative assembly; “Today we went out for oversight function, we visited all our project sites across the LGA and we were amazed by what we saw.
“We commend our chairman and if there’s anything called the third tenure, I think he is qualified. He is qualified for more than just a second term but there’s nothing like a third term.
“We the lawmakers approved the budget and we saw more than what we expected. Our chairman is indeed a leader with vision. We thank him and may God bless him”.
In their separate remarks, the councilors representing Obelle (Ward 5) and Emohua I (Ward 3), Hon Henry Eferebo and Hon Achinike Wodu respectively, thanked the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the choice of Dr. Chidi Lloyd, stressing that the council chairman had already changed the narrative about the local government area within two years of his administration.
The councilors said the progress of work at the different sites visited was an attestation of the council chairman’s sincere commitment towards the development of the local government area.
Dr. Chidi Lloyd who led the councillors on the project tour said; the tour was intended to keep members of the legislative assembly informed of his administration’s developmental strides, in line with his transparency policy.
He noted that his return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which gave room for his emergence as the chairman of Emohua LGA was principally to make peace with himself and realign with his friends in the party where he was a founding member before a political disagreement in the state.
Dr. Lloyd while reiterating his commitment towards the development of Emohua LGA said he will continue to deliver the dividends of good governance to the people of the area till the last day of his administration.
He, however, frowned at the organized campaign of calumny against a possible continuity of his administration by some self-seeking individuals, describing it as a calculated attempt to distract him and frustrate the development of the area.
The council chairman said it’s unfortunate that the campaign against a possible second tenure which he never lobbied or campaigned was not centered on his achievements which ordinarily is supposed to be the basis for criticism.
He attributed the achievements of his administration within the past two years to the support and cooperation of the local government legislative assembly.
“The reason I came back to PDP was principally to have peace because I had litigations here and there, as a result of what happened while I was in the assembly. On my return, somehow providence put this trust on my shoulders and I have not joked with it.
“So far, with your support and cooperation we’ve been able to achieve a lot and we’ll continue to do that until the last day of our mandate; we’ll continue to work for our people.
“I thank God that those writing against me on social media cannot deny the fact that we have actually changed the narrative within the past two years.
“Even if I leave today, I can pride myself that I left Emohua local government area better than I met it.
The project site visited includes the reconstruction and remodeling of the local government legislative assembly complex, the construction of Emohua local government administrative building, the completion of the local government secretariat building abandoned by successive administrations, the local government ICT Studio, council store (warehouse), the ongoing bank building, as well as the extension of the local government primary healthcare center and the council pavilion (mini stadium), all situated within the council headquarters.
Project sites visited outside the council headquarters include the construction of Emohua and Egbeda divisional police stations, the completed Nyesom Wike Drive in Akpabu and the Akpabu Water Scheme; the ongoing construction of Ubimini road and Elder Chinedu Tasie road in Ubimini and Ibaa communities respectively.
Dr. Lloyd was accompanied by the vice chairman of Emohua LGA, Hon Mrs. Edna Nyeche Addis, the council treasurer, Mr. Nmecha, and other principal officers of the local government council.
