The chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Chidi Lloyd, DSSRS on Thursday attended a stakeholders meeting on Flood Disaster and Other Related Hazards, held at the conference hall, Rivers State House of Assembly residential quarters in PortHarcourt.
The meeting held at the instance of the Rivers State House of Assembly Adhoc Committee on Flood and Other Related Natural Disaster also had in attendance chairmen of local government areas captured in the 2023 flood prediction, members of the state executive council, permanent secretaries and directors from relevant ministries and heads of related government agencies and parastatals, was in preparation for the 2023 flash flood as forecasted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
Dr. Chidi Lloyd in his submission at the stakeholders meeting shared ideas on workable mitigation strategies to reduce the effect of the 2023 flash flood on residents of affected areas.
The State Assembly Adhoc Committee in their submission through the chairman and Deputy Leader of the Assembly, Hon. Linda Somiari-Stewart DSSRS, representing Okrika State Constituency, noted the importance of a strong synergy with members of the National Assembly from Rivers State, to further ensure that the State is given adequate attention by the federal government.
