Members of Emohua local government emergency management committee on Monday joined their counterparts across the state to attend a one-day capacity-building workshop organized by the Rivers State Ministry of Special Duties at the conference hall of the State Ministry of Justice in PortHarcourt.
The workshop which had resource persons from the State Ministry of Special Duties, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC ), in preparation for the 2023 flood disaster as forecasted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) also had participants drawn from the emergency management committee of local government areas identified to be possible flashpoints of the 2023 predicted flood.
The workshop centered on the identification of stakeholders in emergency management and their different responsibilities in disaster management.
